“With the arrow, with the bow, through hill and vale, comes the marksman, early in the morning light.”
(F. Schiller, Wilhelm Tell)
The black tribune on the old Leopold Bridge in Melk, spanning a side arm of the Danube River across from the famous monastery, juts up in the air like an arrow. It is an intervention about the baroque representative building.
Inside the 18-meter-long traversable tunnel the recipient hears sounds by different musicians – a “One (Wo)man disco” of sorts. The installation can be accessed via a stairway, leading to a small platform with a view to the monastery.
“The construction takes its cue from El Lissitzkys Lenin Tribune from 1920, which thematized resistance and revolt. Pointing a finger at the Catholic monastery across the way?”
